Hi everybody,
First at all, thanks by creating this forum, and I'm sorry by my english (maybe I make some mistakes).
I'm interested on Edison3D because I have been waiting this technology (3d conversor on 2d displays) for a long time and I've discovered recently that finally it's a fact. But although I have read a lot about it, I have still some doubts and I'll wish you answer them if it would be possible, please. I'll try to be brief, thanks.
i) Compatibility with higher resolution
I had a cheap 2d projector (that's because I was waiting this invention) but I've moved house and maybe I buy now a big "dumb" tv (anyway I wanted to renew my projector -1080p compatible but SVGA native- with another one better or a big Tv). I've seen an economical 4K 65" TV. My questions are:
- Edison3D works with a 4K TV, does it? I know that the image won't be 4K, but I'm asking about if it is compatible. If I put a 4k movie, will I be able to see it on 1080 (less resolution but compatible), or I won't be able to reproduce it?
- I supose that if I put a 1080 movie it will see without problems on 1080 although the TV is 4K, does it? I mean, the TV's maximum resolution doesn't matter..
- I have these doubts in both cases: SBS movie and 2D->3D conversion.
- What about hdmi version? Could it be a problem?
- I live in Europe, any problem with the Hz of the Tv?
ii) Glasses
As I said, I have a 2D projector but it's very probable that I will "return" to TV again. I have read in this forum that there are different kind of glasses for tv and for projector, but on its web I didn't see anything about it.
- How can I difference them? "Standard glasses" are for TV? Have they the same price? Which are the differences (technollogycally) among them?
- I've read that the glasses' battery-life is about 3 hours. That's it? To see one movie it's ok. Two followed movies, maybe a bit fair.. But for a long time playing.. I was thinking about charge a pair of glasses during the 3 hours of play with the others, and after that, change the glasses. It would be possible? How much time is needed to charge them?
- Are they comfortable?
iii) Connecting PC
I supose that I can watch my own 2D videos (converted to 3D) and other videos that not are 3D movies but that they are in sbs format (3d demos, for example) connecting my pc to Edison3D and this, to 4K tv.
- Any graphic card is valid, does it? I mean, it's not necesary the 3D Nvidia graphic card, for example.
- Again, is there any requirements about hdmi version? Any incompatibility?
I guess that if it can work with a smartphone (I've seen it in some picture) there shouldn't be any problem
iv) 3D quality
- I know that if the video source is on 2D and we convert it to 3D, the effect that we will see is depth and "layers" and no one object will exit from the screen forward to us. But if the movie is SBS (or other 3D format), can we experiment that feeling of "the ball is coming to me", or we'll only see again depth in the image?
v) TV programs
Is there any way to see tv programs converted to 3d? Sports and great movies are shown by public tv channels (without cable Tv devices) and it would be fine can watch them on 3D-converted too. But I guess that I would need an output hdmi from tv to edison an input from edison to hdmi (I don´t know if this could work...) or an adapter coaxial-hdmi from aerial to edison3D instead of aerial to TV...
Any idea or suggestion?
vi) VR
I read that are compatible with VR.
- How does it works? How are the connections? I use a similar Google Cardboard and a smartphone (often connected to pc) to play VR games, videos and apps.
- Does it mean that I can play a VR game in 3D?
vii) Buy it
- Where can I buy it? In indiegogo? I guess that I must sign up first because I haven't seen any way to buy it. If I sign up will I be able to buy it or only can buy it who supported the proyect yet?
- Where can I see the taxes and shipping costs? As I said I live in Europe...
- Can it be returned if not satisfied? Althought it would be a bad idea because the return shipping costs
I know that maybe they can be dumb questions (you are free to laugh if you want, I will follow your jokes lol) and others maybe I answered myself, but I want to be sure and I don't want surprises and see my sandcastle on the floor If then it doesn't work as I thought
Thank you very much, and sorry for the long text
Regards!
ps. I have seen about Edison 3D TVR-I glasses too. Made me doubt... But after read I think that are like my "vr glasses" (cardboard+smartphone) but more confortable and with less resolution, does it? They don't convert 2D to 3D, they don't? If you are still with forces and you want, any explanation about this device is welcome too!
